The world' s largest cruise ship, the Oasis of the Seas, houses no less than 41 elevators – they are suspended from a total of 30 kilometers of elevator ropes supplied by Gustav Wolf Drahtseilwerk GmbH. With this extraordinary ship ( breaking all previous records with just under 6,300 guests on 15 passenger decks and a length of 361 meters), another cruise operator - the American-Norwegian cruise company Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. opted for the highly developed production technology from our company.Gustav Wolf continued the successful cooperation with the Finnish elevator manufacturer KONE for this project, which involved meeting the highest quality standards. The gigantic luxury liner Oasis of the Seas was only able to pass the 65 meter high Storebaelt bridge over the Danish Great Belt between Funen and Zealand at the end of October with an extremely short safety clearance of 40 centimeters (the chimneys had to be retracted by 7 meters) – a spectacular action that would not have been possible in stormy weather conditions. The ship had left its shipyard in Turku, Finland and was on its maiden voyage to Florida, USA. The Freedom of the Seas was the largest passenger ship in the world after its completion in 2005. The ship's 4370 passengers have access to 42 elevators equipped with Gustav Wolf ropes to reach the ship's 18 decks. The Freedom of the Seas was built at Aker Finnyards AB in Turku (Finland) and undocked on August 20, 2005. With 158000 GT and a passenger cabin capacity of around 1800, it replaces the Queen Mary 2 as the largest passenger ship in the world. However, the "Queen Mary 2" remains the longest passenger ship in the world, measuring 6 meters longer. The christening ceremony took place in Cape Liberty, New York on 12 May 2006. Since June 2006, the new ocean liner with its up to 4370 passengers has been sailing on one-week tours through the Western Caribbean. The cruise liner's port of departure is Miami in Florida.
