41 elevators in the world’s largest cruise ship, Oasis of the Seas, depend on a total of 30 km elevator of ropes delivered by Gustav Wolf.
The superlative ship (it serves almost 6300 guests on 15 passenger decks with a length of 361 meters, all records), sails as part of the US-Norwegian cruise ship company Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.. – and the elevators are equipped with advanced manufacturing technology from our company.
The Gustav Wolf ropes supplied for this project, are made to the highest quality standards in successful cooperation with the Finnish Elevator company KONE.
The gigantic luxury liner Oasis of the Seas departed at the end of October 2009 with only an extremely short clearance of 40 centimeters (the stacks had been reduced by 7 meters) under the 65 meter high bridge over the Storebaelt Danish Great Belt between Funen and Zealand – such a spectacular action in stormy weather would not have been possible. The ship had left its shipyard in Turku, Finland, and was on its maiden voyage to Florida, USA.
„We are pleased that even the largest cruise ship in the world relies on our quality products,“ said Managing Director Dr.-Ing. Ernst Wolf, „and want to continue to supply this market successfully.“
The ship´s ceremonial christening took place at Cape Liberty, New York, on May 12th, 2006.
Since June 2006, the new ocean liner provides week-long tours through the Western Caribbean. Cruises start in Miami, FL.
7 of the AIDA ships are equipped with Gustav Wolf elevator rope including the latest ship AIDAsol. With 1096 cabins and a length of 252 meters the AIDAsol – together with her sister ship AIDAmar – is the largest ship within the AIDA fleet.
