Time Warner Center, New York

Completed in 2004, the Time Warner Center is the first building to be built in New York following the terrorist attacks of November 9. The twin towers are each 229 meters high. Since more than half of the building's floors are occupied by the AOL Time Warner Group, the complex was named after Time Warner.

Hyatt Center, Chicago

The 207-meter high Hyatt Center in Chicago was completed in 2005. The building contains 34 elevators equipped with Gustav Wolf ropes, which can be used to reach the skyscraper's 48 floors. The Hyatt Center is exclusively equipped with offices.

Scotia Plaza, Toronto

Located in the Canadian metropolis, the Scotia Plaza is in the financial district of Toronto. The plaza consists of a 275 m high building and a second, 115-meter high building, which was completed in 1951. The modern main building was completed in 1988, following a 3-year construction period, and contains 44 elevators and 68 floors.

1000 De la Gauchetiere, Montreal

The 1000 De la Gauchetiere building owes its name to the street Rue de la Gauchetière and the house number 1000. With its 205 meters, the building is the highest building in the city. The city's skyscrapers are subject to strict building regulations and may not be higher than the local mountain Mont Royal (233 m). The building contains a shopping mall, an ice rink, a gym and offices.

Trump Tower, Chicago

The world' s largest reinforced concrete building is currently (2011) located in Chicago. Measuring 423.4 meters from the ground to the top of the tower, it is only 20 meters lower than the Empire State Building in New York. The building has 27 elevators equipped with Gustav-Wolf ropes that take you up to the 98 floors. Trump Tower contains 625 apartments as well as a 5-star luxury hotel. At the time of its planning, the building was to be the tallest in the world. The plans were scrapped after the terrorist attacks.
